Opi are one of the most significant figures in Japanese mythology. They are large, vicious fanged and horned humanoid demons that live in Jigoku, the Japanese equivalent of hell. Oni are very strong and hard to kill, with severed body parts growing back into place. Sometimes (very rarely) Oni are kind to humans and even serve as their protectors.
